The Savannah Boat Parade of Lights is back this weekend, lighting up the river with more than 30 festive boats. This year marks the 24th annual parade, and it remains one of the most anticipated post Thanksgiving traditions along the waterfront.

Just like always, the parade begins at the Dock at Eastern Wharf, but this year Eastern Wharf is playing an even bigger role. It will serve as the main staging area and parade headquarters, with emcees, judges, and activities happening along the newly extended riverwalk.

Before the boats set off, Eastern Wharf will host a Holiday Kickoff from 5 to 9 p.m., complete with Christmas tree lightings, Santa visits, food trucks, and live entertainment. The Georgia Queen Riverboat will then lead the parade at 7 p.m., making two full loops from Eastern Wharf toward the Talmadge Bridge and then back past Plant Riverside District and all of River Street.

Plant Riverside District will also be buzzing, with the Savannah Christmas Market in full swing, plus lights, shopping, holiday food and drinks, and the annual Festival of Trees and gingerbread display. Rousakis Riverfront Plaza and the riverwalk remain great spots for watching the boats as they pass.

The boats themselves are always the highlight. Each one covered in holiday lights, creative displays, and the personal flair of the captains who return year after year.

The parade is free and open to everyone, and it’s one of the best ways to kick off the season with friends, family, and neighbors. With lights reflecting off the river, crowds lining the shores, and holiday festivities happening at every stop, the Savannah Boat Parade of Lights continues to be one of the most charming traditions in the city.

The parade is on November 29th at 7pm.
