A new 444 room Signia by Hilton hotel is coming to Hutchinson Island, adding rooms, restaurants, and a rooftop bar by summer 2028.
A big addition is coming to Savannah’s riverfront skyline. A 444 room Signia by Hilton hotel is officially planned for Hutchinson Island, right next to the Savannah Convention Center. Groundbreaking is scheduled for October 8, and construction is expected to run through summer 2028.
If you’ve been following the Convention Center’s recent $276 million expansion, you know this hotel has been part of the vision for years. Many convention planners have said the same thing: Savannah has the charm, but it needs more hotel rooms close to the action. Right now, the Westin is the only property on Hutchinson Island. With the new Hilton, the island’s total will rise to about 850 rooms, which should make it easier to bring in larger events and conferences.
Renderings show a lobby with 20-foot ceilings, sweeping staircases, and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the river toward River Street. A three-meal restaurant will anchor the ground floor, while a rooftop bar and restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating will crown the building, offering some of the best sunset views in Savannah.
Other features include:
The design team spent more than a year refining the building to complement the new Convention Center expansion while making the most of the river views.
The Convention Center already has more than 120 events booked through 2030, but event organizers have often hesitated without enough hotel space nearby. Once this hotel opens, it could be the piece that allows Savannah to compete for even larger conventions and national events.
For locals, the impact may be felt outside of conferences too. A rooftop bar, new restaurants, and added dining options on Hutchinson Island will likely become destinations of their own.
It will take a few years before doors open, but when complete, the hotel will change both Hutchinson Island and Savannah’s skyline in a lasting way.
