No, it’s not Trader Joe’s. But Savannah is finally getting another grocery store people have been asking about for years.
Sprouts Farmers Market is officially coming to Savannah, with plans for the city’s first location at Crossroads Shopping Center on the eastside near East Victory Drive and the Truman Parkway. The new store is expected to open in 2027 as part of a major redevelopment project at the shopping center.
The grocery chain will move into the former Savannah Children’s Theatre space at Crossroads, which is being redesigned and renovated by Atlanta based developer The Ardent Companies. Demolition work is expected to begin later this summer.
For many Savannah residents, Sprouts is one of those stores that people have heard about, visited while traveling, or hoped would eventually make its way to the area. Known for its fresh produce, specialty groceries, bulk foods, natural products, prepared meals, and health focused items, the chain has grown rapidly across the Southeast in recent years.
The new Sprouts will anchor the 92,000 square foot Crossroads Shopping Center, located across from Target and near Home Depot and Whole Foods. Plans for the redevelopment include rebuilding nearly 28,000 square feet of retail space for Sprouts and an additional retail suite, along with updated facades and exterior improvements throughout the center.
The project marks another major retail addition for Savannah’s eastside, which continues to see new investment and redevelopment activity. Existing tenants at Crossroads currently include Planet Fitness, Starbucks, UPS, T-Mobile, and several restaurants and service businesses.
While Savannah residents continue to joke about waiting for Trader Joe’s, the arrival of Sprouts still feels like a significant addition to the city’s grocery and retail landscape. Between the city’s rapid population growth, expanding neighborhoods, and continued development around the ports, manufacturing industry, and SCAD, national retailers have increasingly started paying attention to the Savannah market.
For now, locals will still have to wait a bit longer before shopping the aisles. But after years of rumors and wishlist conversations, Savannah officially has its first Sprouts Farmers Market on the way.
