Event Description

The UGA Aquarium will celebrate World Ocean Day on June 6 with a full day of free, family-friendly activities focused on ocean conservation, coastal science, and marine life.

Visitors can explore interactive exhibits, participate in ocean-themed art projects and games, and learn how scientists study and protect Georgia’s coast. Highlights include a new interactive sand table developed with Georgia Tech that demonstrates how dunes and beaches change over time, friendship bracelet-making inspired by NASA sea-level data, and educational activities that show how everyday actions can help improve ocean health.

Community organizations and coastal partners will also be on-site throughout the day, giving guests the opportunity to connect with local conservation efforts and learn more about the future of Georgia’s coastal ecosystems.

World Ocean Day also serves as the kickoff to the UGA Aquarium’s summer programming season, which includes weekly educational experiences, animal encounters, boat excursions, coastal crafts, shark and marine science programs, and behind-the-scenes tours throughout June and July.

Admission to the World Ocean Day celebration is free and open to all ages.
