An annual New Year’s Day event featuring a costume parade and a group plunge into the Atlantic Ocean at Tybee Island Pier.
The Tybee Polar Plunge returns on New Year’s Day with a morning of festivities at the Tybee Island Pier. The event begins with the Gangs of Goofs costume contest and parade, followed by the official Polar Plunge at noon, where participants enter the Atlantic Ocean together. Volunteers will be on-site earlier in the morning to distribute shirts to registered participants. The event is a long-running Tybee tradition and is open to both locals and visitors.
