Event Description

The Tybee Beach Bum Parade returns for another year of one of the island’s most recognizable traditions, often called “the south’s largest water fight.” Dating back to 1987, the event transforms Tybee Island into a parade route filled with floats, water guns, and thousands of spectators ready to spray and be sprayed.

The family friendly event encourages attendees to line Butler Avenue with squirt guns, towels, and extra clothes for an evening built around soaking floats as they pass by. Organizers ask guests to avoid water balloons, pressure washers, and spraying law enforcement officers, while also encouraging participants to keep valuables protected and drink responsibly.

The parade has become a longtime Tybee tradition that blends community fun with a playful kickoff to summer, while also helping support local Tybee Island charities and causes.
