A competitive grey squirrel tournament with weigh in, raffle, and dinner at Alee Shriners Temple.
The Second Annual 2026 Great Ogeechee Tree Rat Hunt will take place on February 28, with weigh in from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Alee Shriners Temple, located at 100 Eisenberg Drive in Savannah. The event is described as the largest grey squirrel hunt in the Coastal Empire and is open to teams of up to four hunters, including combined adult and youth teams.
All hunting must occur on the day of the event on legal Georgia lands using any legal harvest method. Target species are Eastern Gray Squirrels only. Winners are determined by the total weight of a 15 Eastern Gray squirrel limit per team.
Following weigh in, food and a raffle will continue until 9 p.m., with raffle proceeds benefiting the Alee Drifters. Registration deadlines and entry fees apply, and team captains must complete required forms and payment prior to the event date.
