Explore a nearby barrier island with hands-on learning, shell hunts, and marine life discovery.
Kick off spring break with School’s Out: Barrier Island Exploration at the UGA Marine Education Center and Aquarium. This guided adventure takes participants to Beach Hammock, a small barrier island near Wassaw, where marine educators will lead shoreline hikes, shell hunts, and seine netting to discover marine life. The program includes aquarium admission and is designed for ages 10 and up (with a registered adult). Registration is required, and all boat activities are weather-dependent—closed-toe shoes and proper attire are a must.
