Hands-on workshop where participants learn broom making with natural materials, led by local artisan Julia Jarrett.
The Davenport House Museum and Historic Savannah Foundation will host a broom making workshop on Saturday, September 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Historic Kennedy Pharmacy, located at 323 E. Broughton Street. Part of the Artisan Spotlight Series, this event highlights the craft of Savannah-based broom maker and fiber artist Julia Jarrett of Made by Venus Moon.
Participants will learn traditional broom making techniques using natural materials while also gaining insight into the cultural history and symbolism of the craft. Guided step by step, each attendee will complete their own handmade miniature broom to take home. All tools and materials are provided, and no prior experience is necessary. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
