Yo-Yo Ma is coming to Savannah next spring for a concert with pianist Solon Gordon at the Lucas Theatre for the Arts. The April 6 performance is part of the 2027 Savannah Music Festival, and tickets are already sold out.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at the downtown theater, located at 32 Abercorn Street. The performance is expected to run about 90 minutes.
It will be a rare Savannah appearance for the cellist. Festival organizers say nearly 30 years have passed since Ma last performed in the city. His career has included more than 120 albums, the Bach Project’s performances across six continents and collaborations that reach well beyond classical music.
Gordon, who will join him on piano, specializes in collaborative performance and has worked with Ma as well as other instrumentalists and singers. He studied at Oberlin Conservatory and also works in software engineering.
Tickets went on sale October 21. The official concert page now lists the performance as sold out.
Savannah Music Festival will run April 2–17, 2027. The rest of the season’s lineup is scheduled to be announced November 13.
