Tybee Island is adding a new food festival to its fall calendar. The first Tybee Island Seafood Fest is planned for November 8–15, with restaurant specials around the island, an oyster roast at Hotel Tybee and a full day of food and music at the pier.
The week begins with participating restaurants offering seafood dishes and special menus. That island-wide portion will run throughout the festival, giving local restaurants a role beyond the main weekend celebration.
On Friday, November 13, Hotel Tybee will host an oyster roast and Lowcountry boil with live entertainment. The evening will benefit HUGS, or Heads-Up Guidance Services, a local nonprofit.
The main celebration follows on Saturday, November 14, at the Tybee Island Pier & Pavilion. It’s scheduled from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with seafood, live bands, food and craft vendors, and activities for children.
Plans also include a Kids’ Zone, shrimp-peeling and oyster-shucking contests, and games throughout the day.
The festival listing has the announced schedule, with more information available through Hotel Tybee for the oyster roast and weekend activities.
