Starlandia’s New Credit Program Helps Savannah Schools and Nonprofits Get Art Supplies

Starlandia’s Community Credit program lets Savannah residents trade usable art supplies and send earned store credit to local schools and nonprofits.

Unused art supplies can now help stock a local classroom or nonprofit’s next project. Starlandia has launched Community Credit, a program that lets customers direct credit from traded-in art materials to participating organizations.

The reclaimed art supply store at 2438 Bull Street already accepts usable materials for trade. Under the new program, customers bring in supplies and choose whether to keep the resulting store credit or send it to a registered school or nonprofit.

Starlandia appraises and processes the materials, then transfers the credit to the selected organization. That organization can use it to buy the supplies it needs at the store. No appointment is required to bring in usable materials.

The program launched with eight community partners: Loop It Up Savannah, EmployAbility, ARTS Southeast, Frank Callen Boys & Girls Club, Greenbriar Children’s Center, Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, Park Place Outreach and Savannah Children’s Theatre.

Additional schools and nonprofits can register with the program. Starlandia is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
