A new pizzeria and bar is open in Savannah’s Starland District. Specials Pizza opened in September at 2520 De Soto Avenue, adding another dining option just off the Bull Street corridor.
The restaurant comes from the team behind Late Air and serves whole pies and slices, along with a small menu of salads, calzones and other plates. Inside, the dining room has wood-paneled walls, a long bar, booths and a mix of colorful chairs.
The pizza menu includes cheese, pepperoni, white and tomato pies, along with a few less traditional combinations. The spicy pepperoni pizza adds sweet chili jam and jalapeño, while the meatball vodka pie comes with meatballs, ricotta and basil. There’s also a mushroom pizza with garlic and crème fraîche, plus a sausage pie with red onion and Calabrian chili.
Whole pizzas on the current takeout menu range from $26 for the tomato pie to $40 for the meatball vodka. Beyond pizza, the menu includes a chopped salad with mortadella, cannellini beans and crispy pepperoni, a calzone filled with mortadella and cheeses, and meatballs. Tiramisu and chocolate chip cookies round out the dessert options.
Specials is open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. at 2520 De Soto Avenue. Online pickup orders are available through the restaurant’s website.
