One of Savannah's most unique restaurants is preparing to close its doors.
Shuk Savannah announced that it will permanently close on July 26, bringing an end to its three-and-a-half-year run serving Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in the Starland District.
In a message shared on social media, the restaurant thanked its guests and staff for supporting the business since opening in the fall of 2022.
"It is with both sadness and gratitude that we announce Shuk will be closing its doors on July 26th," the owners wrote. "After three and a half years of serving the Savannah community, the time has come to turn the page to a new chapter."
Known for dishes like chicken shawarma, shakshuka, hummus, and fresh Mediterranean fare, Shuk quickly built a loyal following after opening. The restaurant also became a popular gathering spot, with its courtyard and inviting atmosphere making it a favorite for brunch, lunch, and dinner.
The announcement sparked an outpouring of support from customers, many sharing favorite menu items and memories made at the restaurant. Several commenters expressed disappointment over losing one of Savannah's few restaurants specializing in Mediterranean cuisine, while others thanked the owners and staff for creating a welcoming space over the past few years.
For now, Shuk says it plans to remain open through July 26, giving longtime customers one last opportunity to stop in before the restaurant closes. The owners also ended their announcement by saying, "See you later," leaving some customers hopeful that this may not be the end of the story.
