Savannah is once again serving as the backdrop for a major film production, with a new movie starring Glen Powell now filming across the region.
The project, titled Comeback King, is directed by Judd Apatow and is currently shooting in Savannah, along with nearby areas like Claxton and Macon. The film follows a country western star navigating a career downturn, adding another high profile production to Georgia’s growing film industry.
Powell headlines the cast, joined by Cristin Milioti, Madelyn Cline, and Stavros Halkias. While details about specific filming locations in Savannah have not been widely shared, production is expected to continue through June.
Alongside filming, casting directors are also bringing in locals to be part of the project. Multiple background roles are currently being filled, including adults, children, and stand ins. Some roles are more specific, such as drivers with their own vehicles for scenes being filmed in late April, as well as concert style roles like roadies and crew members.
There are also opportunities for children to appear in scenes set around a charity event, with filming scheduled in Savannah. Stand in roles are being cast as well, with production taking place across both Savannah and Macon over the next couple of months.
Savannah has become a regular stop for film and television productions in recent years, and projects like this continue to highlight the city’s appeal as a filming location. From historic streets to coastal scenery, the area offers a range of backdrops that keep productions coming back.
For locals, it also means the chance to see a major production up close or even get involved behind the scenes. With filming continuing through the spring, it is likely not the last time the cast and crew will be spotted around town.
