A new specialty grocery store is getting ready to open its doors in Savannah.
Nelly’s Grocery & Wine is expected to celebrate its grand opening later this month at 630 Indian Street, bringing a curated selection of specialty groceries, fresh produce, artisanal foods, and wine to the neighborhood.
Founded by husband and wife team Chanel and Stanton Parker, the market aims to offer a different kind of grocery shopping experience. Instead of focusing on large scale brands, Nelly’s plans to stock products from small batch makers, local growers, and specialty producers, with an emphasis on quality, seasonality, and discovering new flavors.
The Parkers moved to Savannah from Kansas City after falling in love with the city during a visit. What began as Chanel’s passion for food and recipe storytelling eventually grew into the idea for a neighborhood market centered around community and thoughtfully sourced ingredients.
The store will feature fresh produce alongside gourmet pantry items, artisanal foods, and a carefully curated wine selection. According to the owners, every product is chosen with intention, whether it’s because of its ingredients, the story behind it, or the people who produce it.
Located near Yamacraw Village on Indian Street, the owners say they hope the market becomes more than just a place to shop. Their goal is to create a welcoming neighborhood gathering place while expanding access to fresh food and locally produced goods.
Looking ahead, the Parkers also hope to eventually add prepared foods as the business grows.
After recently receiving approval to move forward following inspections, Nelly’s Grocery & Wine is tentatively planning to open on July 24, introducing Savannah to a new specialty market focused on local products, unique finds, and community connections.
