Jim ‘n Nick’s Bar-B-Q has opened a new location on Savannah’s southside near Oglethorpe Mall, serving classic slow-smoked barbecue and scratch-made sides.
Savannah’s southside just got a new option for pulled pork, mini cheese biscuits, and hickory-smoked everything. Jim ‘n Nick’s Community Bar-B-Q officially opened its doors this week at the corner of Abercorn and White Bluff, right on the edge of Oglethorpe Mall’s parking lot.
This is the Alabama based chain’s third location in our area (they’re already in Pooler and Bluffton) and their 18th in Georgia overall. If you’re not familiar, Jim ‘n Nick’s keeps things old school: no freezers, no microwaves, just low-and-slow barbecue, scratch-made sides, and plenty of sauce—yes, even Alabama white sauce.
The Savannah spot is a quick service-plus model, which means you can drive through for takeout or sit down inside if you’ve got time to spare. Alongside the pulled pork and brisket, expect those famous mini cheese biscuits and banana pudding that fans swear by.
This opening is part of a bigger refresh for this stretch of Abercorn. With new apartments replacing the old Sears, the Golden Corral gone, and Hunter Army Airfield next door, neighbors say it’s a welcome addition.
At the ribbon cutting on Wednesday, Jim ‘n Nick’s marked the occasion with live music, samples, and a $2,500 donation to the Savannah Bananas’ non-profit arm, Bananas Foster. The new restaurant brings more than 85 jobs to the community.
So whether you’re grabbing a rack of ribs for the road or sitting down with family, Savannah’s newest barbecue joint is ready to serve.
