Helen Mirren is coming to Savannah for opening night of the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. The actress will attend a screening of A Talent for Murder on Saturday, October 24, followed by a moderated question-and-answer session.
Mirren will also receive the festival’s Legend of Entertainment Award. The 29th annual festival runs October 24 through 31.
Directed by Anton Corbijn, A Talent for Murder pairs Mirren with Alden Ehrenreich. The story follows a young representative of a New York publisher sent to Switzerland to persuade a well-known writer to contribute one last installment to a thriller anthology.
Mirren’s career includes her Oscar-winning performance in The Queen, along with roles in Prime Suspect, The Hundred-Foot Journey and 1923.
Individual festival tickets go on sale at noon Friday, October 2. Tickets can be purchased online, at the SCAD Box Office at 216 East Broughton Street, or by calling 912-525-5050.
Standard daytime tickets are $10 for the general public and $7 for seniors 65 and older, military members and students. Standard evening gala screenings at Trustees Theater and Lucas Theatre are $17, or $12 for seniors, military members, students and SCAD cardholders. Some events may have different pricing.
Festival passes were offered at three access levels, but all three are currently marked sold out. Individual tickets remain the next option for those hoping to attend opening night or other screenings.
The festival’s ticket page has purchasing details and current availability. Seating is limited, and admission is first come, first served.
