Garden City has a new place to swim, play pickleball and spend time outdoors. The city celebrated the opening of its recreation complex on September 19 at 200 Eagles Way, bringing a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities to one site.
The complex includes a pool with two waterslides and a splash pad, along with six indoor and six outdoor pickleball courts. Inside, there is a double-court basketball gym, three volleyball courts and a fitness center.
Outside, a multipurpose turf field is lined for football, soccer and lacrosse. A half-mile walking trail, playground and two pavilions give families more ways to use the grounds beyond organized sports. The facility also has community and multipurpose rooms, locker rooms and concession stands.
For residents who have used the city’s older recreation center on Market Street, this is a separate and much larger option. The Market Street center remains listed among Garden City’s recreation facilities, while the new complex brings pool activities and additional courts to Eagles Way.
The city has not posted a single set of public hours or admission prices for every part of the new complex on its facilities page. Program schedules and access may vary by activity, so residents can check the city’s recreation information before visiting.
