Savannah’s brewery scene is getting a new addition this weekend as First City Brewing officially opens its doors with a three day grand opening celebration beginning Friday.
Located at 1722 Habersham St., the new brewery is aiming to create more than just a place to grab a beer. Owners Lindsay and EJ say the goal behind First City Brewing is to build a neighborhood gathering place centered around local flavor, Southern hospitality, and community connection.
The grand opening weekend schedule includes Friday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m.
Guests visiting during opening weekend can expect a wide variety of house beers on tap right away, including an amber ale, Irish red, Tupelo honey wheat brewed with Savannah Bee Company honey, Norwegian citrus IPA, hazy IPA, lite lager, hard seltzer, and a non alcoholic hop water option.
The brewery’s story started long before opening day. According to the owners, both Lindsay and EJ developed an appreciation for craft beer early in life through family traditions, brewery visits, and years spent exploring local beer scenes while traveling across the country. After moving to Savannah more than two decades ago, the idea for First City Brewing slowly took shape as a way to combine those experiences with the city’s strong sense of community.
The brewery is also launching its First City Mug Club, which includes perks like larger pours, merchandise discounts, member events, and early access to select beer releases.
In a city that continues to see growth in locally owned food and beverage concepts, First City Brewing joins Savannah’s expanding lineup of neighborhood breweries and taprooms. The owners say they hope the space becomes a regular gathering spot for both locals and visitors looking to spend time with friends over locally made beer.
